Q:can you guys recommend anywhere to go to for Jason fics? Sorry if this isn't the kind of question you guys field, but I've been looking for de-aged Jason fic for a couple of days and can't seem to find ANY fic places that aren't on FFnet :/

Sure, check out our fan fiction tag. We’ve got some recommendations there. 

Also, when submitting fan fiction, we ask writers to make sure they have listed

  • characters appearing
  • estimated word count
  • estimated ‘rating’ (ie. PG-13)
  • any warnings (ie. mentions of abuse, blood, etc.)

Plans for Jay’s B-day?

I noticed someone asked how old Jason is right now and his birthday was mentioned along with his age. Jason’s going to be getting older soon! Do fans usually plan things for his birthday? Or is it just one of those things where we might see more art for him?

It might be fun to try and plan something as a group as far as fanart, fics, vids, etc goes and get them all rounded up together (for everyone to enjoy and to celebrate him).  

FYJT: That is a fantastic idea!! It’s been over a year since a Jason Todd Appreciation Day or week was held in full (and this one was held to coincide with the release of Batman: Under the Red Hood). I’m sure we’ll try to come up with a celebratory post here.

Once again, as an FYI, Jason’s birthday is Aug. 16. 

What if Jason hadn’t come back after Hush?

So, I was thinking in my wonderful what if term, what if Jason had never come back via Superboy prime’s punch, but had come out of Blackest Night as one of the resurrected folks from the White Light? Having him come back around the age of 16, Bruce is still MIA, his kids now Robin, he see’s that his death was never avenged and it would have dodged out all of the baaaad stories Jason got (Just unfair treatment to the character…)

I don’t know if it would have been good or bad, but I really can’t get the idea out of my head because…its premise just sounds interesting. Does anyone else think so or am I just liking a dumb idea?

FYJT: It’s not a dumb idea at all! What’s so interesting about Flashpoint is that we get to see a ‘what if’ story about Jason: that he could have been a priest. It’s actually quite fascinating, and I do like the idea of him having come back out of Blackest Night. 

One of the things I (mod!Liz) was saddened about in regards to Blackest Night was Jason’s lack of involvement. His resurrection was a huge deal in and out of comics, and yet at no point was he ever involved, or made a Black Lantern, or even a Red Lantern — both of which would have fit. It’s also too bad we never got just a partial showcase issue of him dealing with someone who may have come back from the grave: his biological mother, Sheila. Additionally, I felt that Barbara Gordon would have made an excellent Green Lantern, but sadly, she was not utilized much in the event, either. 

Q:I know that Tim told Superboy that the reason he took the "bad Robins' " ID as Red Robin was to distance himself from the batfamily. But that always seemed like an excuse to me especially since he kept the name after Bruce returned. Why do you think Tim used Jasons' costume/name from Countdown? Was he too lazy to come up with a new ID, really liked Red Robin restaurants, or was it something deeper?

(This in-text scene is a part of our long ‘who’s to blame’ essay, in which there are many instances, including this one, where there are suggestions that Jason ‘deserved’ to die, including that he was the ‘bad Robin’ [despite never being bad at what he did, bad in general, or a failure in any sense]. Q:Why 'femmes' for 'Friday Femmes'. I know it's better than just saying 'female' though 'femme' has a pretty specific meaning in English-speaking (LGBT) culture.

It was better than saying ‘female’, additionally there’s the ‘femme fatale’ literature archetype (though not all of the women are going to fit this archetype), as well as the alliteration aspect.
